NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Carolyn K. Reidy has been
named President and Chief Executive Officer of Simon & Schuster, Inc., it
was announced today by Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive
Officer of CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A and CBS). In her new position,
Reidy will oversee all of Simon & Schuster's domestic and international
publishing operations.
Reidy will assume her new role effective Jan. 1, 2008, upon the
retirement of current Simon & Schuster President and CEO Jack Romanos,
which was announced separately.

Since 2001, Reidy has been President of the Simon & Schuster Adult
Publishing Division, responsible for the editorial, marketing and business
functions of the groups numerous imprints, including Atria, Free Press,
Howard Books, Pocket Books, Scribner, Simon & Schuster, and
Touchstone/Fireside. During that time, the Division has added numerous
imprints and lines that have increased its ability to publish to nearly
every segment of the marketplace, and the publishing operations under her
supervision have grown more that 20%. The division has published some of
the most popular and bestselling books of recent years, including Living
History by Hillary Rodham Clinton, Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt, YOU: On

Reidy first joined Simon & Schuster in 1992 as President and Publisher
of what was then the company's Trade Division. She came to Simon & Schuster
from Avon Books, where she had been president and publisher since 1988.
Reidy began her publishing career in at Random House in 1976, and moved to
William Morrow as subsidiary rights director in 1983. She returned to
Random House in 1986 as publisher of Vintage Books and Associate Publisher
of the Random House imprint.
A native of Washington D.C., Reidy graduated from Middlebury College
with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Russian, and earned an M.A. and
Ph.D. in English from Indiana University. She resides in New York City with
her husband.
