- Stores Nationwide Participate to Welcome Fall and Winter Holidays -
IRVING, Texas, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Michaels Stores, Inc.
(NYSE: MIK) announced today that, to help families prepare for the upcoming
Holiday season, the Company will host a Free Family Event at its 833 Michaels
stores across the United States and Canada. The come-and-go, family oriented
activity will take place on Saturday, October 2 from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
The all day event, sponsored by Delta Technical Coatings,
Alltrista/Forster Craft Products, and Royal Brush Manufacturing, will allow
participants to make one of several colorful pieces of artwork using Delta
paint, Forster Woodsies, and Royal Langnickel paintbrushes. Crafters can
choose to complete a holiday project that can be used as a Halloween,
Thanksgiving, Winter, or Christmas decoration. The activity is intended to
introduce children and parents to the fun and family closeness crafting
provides. All ages are welcome. Families are invited to make the most of
this festive season with assistance from a Michaels crafting professional who
will guide them in completing these fun and interesting projects. Materials
will be supplied at no cost, and the lesson promises to appeal to the whole
family as everyone will be given the opportunity to complete a hands-on
crafting project.
The Free Family Event is hosted as part of the Craft & Hobby Association's
(CHA) national campaign to promote crafts, "Life's Little Pleasures." The CHA
is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of arts and
crafts worldwide. The October 2nd activity is designed to get families "ready
for fall" and to remind them that crafting is a wonderful way to create and
