Fidelity Bankshares Says Company Branches Rapidly Restoring Service in Wake of Hurricane Frances

    WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Fidelity
Bankshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: FFFL) the holding company for Fidelity Federal Bank
& Trust, said today that the company was rapidly restoring service to its 43
branches in the wake of Hurricane Frances, which hit Florida over the Labor
Day weekend.
    Chairman and CEO Vince Elhilow said, "I am happy to report that we
survived Hurricane Frances with serious damage at only two of our 43 branches.
We opened business today at 37 branches where electricity has been restored,
and we now expect all but the two damaged offices will be open for business
within 24 to 48 hours. We look forward to the challenge of rebuilding in our
South Florida market area including Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian
River and northern Broward counties."
