Payless' First-Ever Designer Collection, Abaete for Payless, is Available
Beginning Sept. 6 in Select Stores Nationwide and Payless.com(R); Payless
Extends Alliance with Fashion Designer Laura Poretzky for Holiday and
Spring '07 Collections, Hits Runway at New York Fashion Week Next Week
NEW YORK, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- This fall, women nationwide will have
the chance to strut the streets in designer shoes they actually can afford.
Payless ShoeSource(R), the nation's leading footwear retailer dedicated to
democratizing fashion and design in footwear and accessories, has united
with fashion designer Laura Poretzky to create the Abaete for Payless
collection, the retailer's first-ever designer footwear line.
"Shoppers will be surprised and delighted when they see the modern,
high- fashion style of the Abaete for Payless collection and the price tag
of just $20 to $45," said Matt Rubel, chief executive officer for Payless

The collection was unveiled at the Abaete runway show at New York's
Fall Fashion Week this past Feb., and includes four silhouettes in a
variety of colors, materials and styling details:
-- "Sky" Boot: a sleek tall boot that hugs the leg with thin buckled
straps and modern stitching detail at the toe and throughout the shaft.
Available in brown faux suede and black faux satin.
-- "Joseph" Boot: a chic cocktail boot with ankle buckle detail.
Available in black.
-- "Oliver" Pump: a sophisticated d'Orsay pump, with a patent cap-toe
accent and bow detail offered in the latest color combinations like
black and white and black and purple.
-- "Casey" Flat: a contemporary, flirty flat with patent bow detail in
rich tomato red faux suede and brown faux satin.

Abaete for Payless is a limited-edition collection available beginning
Sept. 6 exclusively in about 450 Payless stores nationwide and on
Payless.com(R). Payless and Poretzky have extended their alliance and will
work together to create Holiday '06 and Spring '07 Abaete for Payless
Collections. The Spring '07 collection will makes its debut at New York
Fashion Week at Poretzky's Abaete show on Sept. 14.

About Laura Poretzky
Laura Poretzky is a New York-based designer who designs under the
Abaete label. She was born in France to a Russian father and a
Danish-Brazilian mother, and raised between Paris, Rio de Janeiro and New
York. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Laura
went on to work at some of the most prestigious fashion houses in New York.
After the launch of her successful swimwear line, Laura extended her
designs into a complete line of ready-to-wear apparel and now footwear --
drawing as much on her experience as a New Yorker as on her Latina and
Eurasian roots. Laura Poretzky and the Abaete brand are represented by
