Duty Cycle Limitations Solved With SP6133 and SP6136 Achieving Efficiencies

MILPITAS, Calif., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sipex Corporation
(OTC: SIPX.PK) today announced two new single-rail synchronous buck
controllers, the SP6133 and SP6136. With an integrated 5V LDO bias, the
SP6133 and SP6136 are designed to drive a pair of external N-Channel FETs
switching at 300kHz (SP6133) and 600kHz (SP6136) frequencies from a single
voltage rail for point of load applications. These devices have a wide
input voltage range from 4.5V to 24V with duty cycles down to 3.5%,
enabling direct conversion from high input voltage to low output voltages
in a single step, eliminating the need for intermediate bus conversion.
The SP6133 / SP6136 give the designer a unique combination of features:
-- Programmable start-up UVLO sets the minimum input voltage for safe
operation
-- Internal VCC UVLO ensures the controller has sufficient voltage to
properly operate
-- PWRGD output with adjustable delay indicates when the output voltage is
in regulation eliminating the need for additional supervisory circuits
-- Hiccup-mode restart implemented into lossless current sense, thermal
shutdown, and short circuit protection features
-- High-current gate drivers enable output currents up to 30A
