CONCORD, Mass., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Starmet Corporation
(Nasdaq: STMT), a Concord, Massachusetts based manufacturer of advanced
technology metallurgical products, today announced the exercise and funding of
a contract option for approximately $1.2 million from Lockheed Martin Idaho
Technology Company (LMITCO), Idaho Falls, Idaho. The work involves recycling
Depleted Uranium (DU) armor scrap into useable billets for processing at the
Specific Manufacturing Capability plant in Idaho, a Department of Energy
facility that is operated by LMITCO. This award represents the annual
contract option exercised for the production of DU billets in support of the
U.S. Army's Heavy Armor Program. The company anticipates that the remaining
two annual options also will be exercised by LMITCO.
