Oxford Announces 2004 Medicare+Choice Plans - Oxford Remains in Current Counties -

    TRUMBULL, Conn., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Oxford Health Plans,
Inc. (NYSE: OHP), today announced its Medicare plans for the year 2004.
Oxford will continue to provide service in a total of seven counties in New
York, New Jersey and Connecticut, which currently provides coverage for
approximately 71,000 members.
    In New York, Oxford will continue to offer Oxford Medicare AdvantageSM
(OMA) plans in five counties: Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond.  In
New Jersey, plans will be offered in Hudson County.  In Connecticut, plans
will be offered in New Haven County.  Later this fall, Oxford will release
benefit adjustments, which go into effect January 1, 2004, following approval
by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
    "Oxford supports its Medicare members by offering various plan designs to
meet their health and economic needs; by enabling them to participate in
preventive care and disease management programs; and by providing access to a
wide network of providers," said Pete Haytaian, vice president of government
programs and specialty businesses at Oxford.

improvements to the Medicare program to get Medicare reform that would
immediately stabilize the current program and enable us to serve a larger
number of beneficiaries.  At Oxford, we are committed to continuing to provide
Medicare+Choice services in our current service areas and entering new
counties if Medicare reform is enacted that addresses reimbursement
disparities in certain counties, particularly urban and suburban ones, across
the country," Haytaian continued.
    Medicare-eligible beneficiaries interested in enrolling in OMA plans can
call 800-303-6720.  This past year, Oxford also launched a new web site
(http://www.oxfordhealth.com/oxford_medicare_advantage) for Medicare-eligible
beneficiaries, which provides information about healthcare coverage options,
including OMA plans, as well as related information concerning Medigap and
traditional Medicare.  The site will be updated with Oxford's 2004 OMA plan
designs later this fall, following CMS's approval.
    Oxford Medicare members who want to join another Medicare+Choice program
or return to the original Medicare program can call the Medicare+Choice
Helpline at 800-MEDICARE/800-633-4227 (TDD/TTY: 877-486-2048).  Oxford members
may call Oxford Medicare Advantage's Member Services Department at
800-234-1228 (TTY/TDD: 800-201-4874), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6
p.m.

including exercise classes, walking clubs, diabetes and lung disease
workshops, nutrition consults, and podiatry, vision and hearing benefits,
through its various plans.  OMA members also receive access to Oxford's
extensive OMA network of providers and specialists, and access to Oxford's
credentialed network of complementary and alternative medicine practitioners
including, chiropractors, acupuncturists, yoga instructors, massage
therapists, nutritionists and, in Connecticut, naturopaths.
