    Xilinx Hands-On Workshops

-- Implementing a PowerPC(TM) System with Floating Point Co-Processor on
        the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro(TM) FPGA
Demonstrate the ease of rapidly building a processor-based system
utilizing the embedded PowerPC 405 processor and interfacing a floating
point co-processor implemented in FPGA logic. Learn the PowerPC system
architecture and Xilinx solutions for system implementation and debug
using the latest features in the Xilinx Platform Studio Tool Suite.
Build a PowerPC system with XPS Base System Builder, run a software
based FIR filter, and experience the acceleration provided by adding a
floating point co-processor. This implemented system will illustrate
how easy it is to connect the PowerPC to user or third party IP for
       hardware acceleration of software.

       Location: Room 104 Tues., 9/14: 12:00 noon - 1:30 p.m.
                                                  2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
                                                  4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

-- Learn How to Use the MicroBlaze(TM) Fast Simplex Link to Accelerate
        Hardware
Accelerate time critical software algorithms by converting them to
custom hardware logic functions. The Xilinx MicroBlaze Fast Simplex
Link (FSL) is a high-speed, dedicated point-to-point communication link
to custom hardware logic functions. Optimize processor architecture,
accelerate application software and make hardware-software tradeoff
decisions early in the system design phase. Use Xilinx Platform Studio
to design with the MicroBlaze FSL interface to accelerate critical
functions without impacting processor performance while improving
       system performance.

       Location: Room 104 Wed., 9/15: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
                                                  12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
                                                  2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

In-Booth Theatre Presentations Every 30 Minutes

-- What is a Platform FPGA?
    -- Xilinx Embedded Processing Solutions
-- Platform Studio: Create an Embedded System in Just Minutes
    -- XtremeDSP(TM) - Performance, Value, Easy

Product Demonstrations in Xilinx Booth #401

-- Platform Studio Embedded Tool Suite
The Xilinx Platform Studio will be used to create an embedded
hardware/software/IP system and boot a real-time operating system. We
will show how Platform Studio accelerates embedded processing
development for programmable systems via the IDE, as well as powerful
       design wizards and module generators.

-- Implementation of a Dual PowerPC System with a Floating Point
        Co-Processor
Explore the power and ease of creating a dual PowerPC processor system
with floating point co-processor using the Xilinx Platform Studio tool
suite. The implemented system will illustrate how users may easily
connect the PowerPC to custom IP such as a Floating Point Unit. The
compute acceleration of FPGA implemented co-processors will be clearly
demonstrated via a signal processing FIR filter being run both in
software and then utilizing the floating point co-processor.

-- Hardware Acceleration with MicroBlaze Fast Simplex Link
Demonstrate hardware acceleration capabilities of MicroBlaze FSL.
Featured applications include MP3 decode acceleration with MicroBlaze
FSL and low cost embedded microprocessor design accomplished with the
MicroBlaze processor on the Xilinx Spartan-3(TM) Evaluation board.
