Tyson Offers Job Opportunities to Hurricane Evacuees; Company Establishes Toll-Free Employment Number

    SPRINGDALE, Ark., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyson Foods, Inc.
(NYSE: TSN), the world's largest producer of chicken, beef and pork, has set
up a toll-free telephone number for hurricane evacuees interested in a job
with the company.  Tyson is also providing relocation assistance.

of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (CDST) Monday through Friday or go to

Tyson.  The company currently has several hundred openings at production
plants and offices throughout the country, including positions in production
and maintenance as well as management and management support.
    "Because of the extent of the devastation along the coast, there are
thousands of people looking to relocate and rebuild their lives," said Larry
Hopkins, vice president of Recruiting, Education and Retention for Tyson
Foods.  "We're making an effort to determine ways that our current staffing
needs can match their desire for employment."
    Tyson Foods operates more than 100 processing plants in 23 states,
including Kansas and Nebraska, as well as southern states such as Texas,
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.
    Tyson has already started interviewing job candidates at state employment
offices in Houston and Dallas, Texas, as well as company employment offices in
Houston, Dallas; Carthage, Mississippi and Springdale, Arkansas.  Tyson is
also working through organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the
Red Cross, the National Urban League and state workforce development offices
to let people know the company has jobs available.
    Applicants who are hired will be offered relocation assistance, including
transportation to the job location as well as temporary housing.  Additional
assistance may also be provided, depending upon the job location.
