JOHNSTOWN, Pa., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AmeriServ Financial,
Inc. (Nasdaq: ASRV) today announced a restructuring of its consumer lending
operation in addition to hiring new senior division leaders.
The move better positions AmeriServ to respond quickly and more
effectively to customer needs, and enhances the bank's strategic direction,
according to President and CEO Allan R. Dennison.
The bank's consumer lending and mortgage divisions are now organized
within the same division that operates the 22 community branch offices.
"We are making important changes that dramatically improve our response
to customer loan application and service questions," said Dennison. "This
new lending approach puts our customer at the center of everything. This
will enable us to deliver faster, more convenient and more personal service
to each customer applying for an AmeriServ loan or line of credit. This
organizational change will emphasize that we are first and foremost a
responsive community bank."
AmeriServ also announced the recent hire of senior managers who will be
at the center of this new lending approach. Russell Flynn joins AmeriServ
as Vice President of the Consumer Lending Division, and Vice President
Cindy Blough will manage the residential mortgage lending program.
Flynn is a 15-year veteran of consumer lending management and most
recently served as consumer underwriting manager for another Pennsylvania
bank. In addition to managing the operations for consumer loans such as
personal loans, home equity loans and lines, and auto loans, Flynn will
also manage AmeriServ's changing approach to mortgage lending.
"Great rates, personal and fast service describes what mortgage
customers want most," said Flynn. "AmeriServ will meet these needs by
augmenting a hard working staff of mortgage originators with branch office
employees who can respond to mortgage questions and can take a mortgage
application at any AmeriServ office. With weekend hours at select branch
offices, we are going to make it fast and convenient to finance a home at
AmeriServ."
Customer response time and service will be the responsibility of
Blough, who will manage and train AmeriServ's growing mortgage originator
operations. She has been working in the mortgage loan business since 1984.
Until joining AmeriServ, she served as vice president and mortgage
underwriting manager for a large Western Pennsylvania bank.
Blough will oversee the development of mortgage service representatives
in AmeriServ branch offices so customers can arrange for a home purchase at
more bank locations.
"We are putting the best talent and resources behind our consumer
lending and mortgage financing service line to provide the best banking
experience for our community," added Dennison.
