- Oxford Remains in Current Counties -
TRUMBULL, Conn., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Oxford Health Plans,
Inc. (NYSE: OHP), today announced its Medicare plans for the year 2003.
Oxford, through its licensed health maintenance organization subsidiaries,
will continue to provide service in a total of seven counties in New York, New
Jersey and Connecticut, which currently provides coverage for approximately
70,000 members.

In New York, Oxford will continue to offer Oxford Medicare Advantage(SM)
(OMA) plans in five counties: Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond. In
New Jersey, the plan will be offered in Hudson County; in Connecticut, New
Haven County. Later this fall, Oxford will release benefit adjustments, which
also go into effect January 1, 2003, following approval by the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
"Our Medicare+Choice program, which includes drug benefits and preventive
care, is an excellent choice for area beneficiaries. Unfortunately, we could
not consider entering new counties this year because reimbursement continues
to lag significantly behind healthcare costs in many counties," said Peter
Haytaian, vice president, government programs at Oxford.
"We remain optimistic that the legislators will act on Medicare reform and
therefore allow health plans to remain in the Medicare+Choice program. This
would not only ensure greater stability and choice for beneficiaries by
slowing or even halting the market exits that have occurred over the past few
years, but enable plans, like Oxford, to once again grow beyond their current
Medicare service areas," Haytaian continued.

or return to the Medicare program can call the Medicare Choice Helpline at
800-MEDICARE/800-633-4227 (TDD/TTY: 877-486-2048). Additionally, Oxford
members may call Oxford Medicare Advantage's Member Services Department at
800-234-1228 (TTY/TDD: 800-201-4874), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to
6 p.m.
