BEA Also Named Most Trusted Vendor in a Poll Surveying 1,148 Middleware
Professionals
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
http://bea.com/more_info.jsp?p=215&r=17.31 In an ongoing commitment to its
developer community, BEA Systems (Nasdaq: BEAS), a world leader in enterprise
infrastructure software, today announced top ranking for BEA in a J2EE
Application Server Survey conducted by The Middleware Company that polled
1,148 middleware professionals. The survey population was drawn from J2EE
end-users at TheServerSide.com, a diverse online community including ISVs,
system integrators, chief architects and senior developers, with the goal of
better understanding market share perception and how it impacts the
application server market. Survey respondents found BEA to be the most widely
used and trusted application server vendor. According to the survey results,
BEA WebLogic Server(TM) is the leading J2EE application server on the market
today, with the highest installed base in both the development and production
phases of enterprise application implementation, and the highest developer
mind share.
In the study, BEA WebLogic Server is ranked top in the J2EE application
server market in both mind share and market share. BEA WebLogic Server leads
IBM WebSphere by 13 percent in the mind share of respondents with hands on
experience, by 9 percent in the market share for those in development, and by
10 percent in the market share for those in production. BEA was also ranked
the most trusted application server vendor. The study examined the importance
of characteristics in application servers including performance, robustness,
security, support for standards, development productivity and scalability.
These characteristics were found to be among the most important factors for
customers selecting an application server.
"Coming from end-users working with J2EE products on a daily basis, these
results speak volumes about the true market rankings of J2EE application
servers," said Miko Matsumura, industry analyst, The Middleware Company.
"These findings indicate that BEA is the most trusted J2EE vendor and in many
categories, the market leader by a wide margin."
"The findings of this survey underscore BEA's leading market position in
the J2EE application server market," said Peter Linkin, senior director,
product marketing, BEA Systems. "We are extremely proud to receive top honors
in this survey due to its end-user focus and given that results are based on
actual deployments. We believe these results speak to the true experiences and
real priorities of the developer and IT community."
