PLYMOUTH, Mich., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Simpson Industries, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SMPS) and Fukoku Co., Ltd. of Japan announce the establishment of a
new company, Fukoku Simpson Korea, Ltd., to be located in Ansan City, Kyung Ki
Province, South Korea. The newly-formed company results from the combination
of Fukoku Korea Ltd., of which Fukoku Co., Ltd. was a majority shareholder,
and Simpson Korea Ltd., which Simpson Industries, Inc. was a majority
shareholder.
Fukoku Co., Ltd. is a major supplier of rubber components for automobile
wiper blades, brake and suspension products, and engine components, including
torsional vibration dampers. In addition to its locations in Japan, Fukoku
also has manufacturing locations in Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, and the
United States.
Simpson Industries supplies powertrain and chassis products to original
equipment manufacturers in the worldwide automotive and medium and heavy duty
diesel engine markets. Simpson's products are focused in four groups: noise,
vibration and harshness, wheel-end and suspension, modular engine assemblies,
and high-precision machined components. Simpson Industries is the largest
supplier of crankshaft vibration dampers in the world, supplying the widest
range of product including rubber and viscous dampers.
Simpson's manufacturing units are located in the United States, Canada,
Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Spain, and South Korea.
Initially, Fukoku Simpson Korea, Ltd. will produce rubber and viscous
dampers, engine NVH products, wiper blades, brake and suspension components,
and rubber compounds. In the future, plans call for expanding the product
offerings to include balance shafts and water and oil pumps.
