New DotSurfer(TM) Products Showcased at CTIA IT (San Diego)
And PCIA (Los Angeles)
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- GTRAN Wireless, Inc., a
designer and developer of wireless transmission products, announced a
successful commercial launch of its 3G CDMA2000 products. The company is
demonstrating its DotSurfer(TM) PCMCIA cards on a 3G CDMA2000 network during
the CTIA IT show (Booth #1637) in San Diego, September 12-13, and with 3G
network operator NextWave Telecom at PCIA show (Booth #1609) in Los Angeles,
September 12-13. GTRAN Wireless launched its DotSurfer 153K family of PCMCIA
Type II data cards earlier this year addressing the different operating bands
in the Americas and Asia. In addition to performing live video demonstration
on a 3G CDMA2000 network at its booth, the company is introducing two new
products: DotSurfer CardReader and DotSurfer + (Plus).
DotSurfer CardReader connects the DotSurfer modem card to personal desktop
computers through a standard serial bus. With DotSurfer speeds in excess of
110Kb/s, a user can now connect GTRAN's PCMCIA modem card via the CardReader
to a desktop for high-speed access to the Internet. It also allows the
carriers to address the last-mile wireless data market.
DotSurfer+ utilizes the latest technology -- CDMA 1X or GPRS plus Wi-Fi
combined in one. Convenient to the mobile user, the DotSurfer+ connects at
data rates up to 11 Mbps in offices, airports, hotels, and on the road through
CDMA or GPRS networks.
"With DotSurfer 1X, our customers are receiving data in the 110-130 Kbps
range in a mobile environment," said Deepak Mehrotra, President and CEO of
GTRAN Wireless. "This allows our customers untethered multimedia wireless
access. Now, with DotSurfer+ products, we will provide our customers with a
seamless connection between LAN (Wi-Fi) and WAN environments.
GTRAN Wireless continues to lead the wireless Internet market by providing
access solutions for a multimedia wireless experience for laptop and PDA
users. Last June, GTRAN Wireless was the world's first company to launch a
true PCMCIA Type II data card solution for Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) 1X systems. Today, all commercial CDMA 1X carriers have deployed
DotSurfer products.
