Motorola and the PCIA Foundation Expand the LifePage Program To Include Motorola Talkabout(R) T900 Two-Way Messaging Devices

Expanded Program Notifies Patients of Available Organs with New Mobility And
                                   Freedom

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Motorola (NYSE: MOT)
and the Personal Communications Industry Association (PCIA) Foundation
announced an expansion of PCIA's LifePage Program, a service developed to
provide patients and doctors with a wireless communication connection.
LifePage was established in 1982 to provide free pagers and service to
patients awaiting vital organ transplants, so that they would have the freedom
to lead productive and active lives. The expansion of the LifePage program
will put Motorola Talkabout T900 two-way messaging devices into the hands of
patients awaiting transplants, enabling them to receive notification of
available organs, reply to these notifications, if necessary, and exchange
text messages with any e-mail address.
"Communication technology has the power to help improve people's lives,
and we are pleased to bring Motorola's two-way messaging devices to PCIA's
LifePage program to provide peace of mind to patients awaiting organ
transplants," said Miguel Pellon, vice president and general manager of the
Wireless Messaging Division, Motorola. "The LifePage program has been an
overwhelming success for almost 20 years. We believe that the two-way
messaging devices will greatly enhance the program by providing patients and
their families added freedom and mobility."
The expanded LifePage program will benefit both patients and hospitals, as
the two parties are able to communicate efficiently and effectively through
text messages. Kidney and liver transplant patients and coordinators from
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles are participating in the pilot
program using the two-way messaging devices. Motorola is donating the two-way
messaging devices and Arch Wireless, Metrocall, Skytel and WebLink Wireless
are donating the service. The original LifePage program, which will continue
along with the new two-way messaging component, required that patients
immediately locate a phone to respond to a numeric or word message page. Now,
by using the Motorola Talkabout T900 devices, patients and hospitals will be
able to quickly and easily exchange text messages regarding the details of the
potential organ transplant.
"For those awaiting organ transplants, every second counts, especially the
time between finding a viable organ and the actual operation," said Anne
Riser, director of the PCIA Foundation. "The Motorola Talkabout T900 provides
patients and doctors with a fast and easy way to communicate regardless of
phone access, making this wireless device an ideal communication tool for the
LifePage program."
In addition to the expansion of the LifePage program to include two-way
messaging devices, Motorola and PCIA have developed a new LifePage Partner
program for the public to support the organ donation process -- by sponsoring
a Motorola Talkabout T900 2-Way messaging device for only $99 per year. To
