Gerson to Join The Washington Post Op-Ed Page in Early 2007

WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Gerson, former senior
White House adviser and former Senior Editor of U.S. News and World Report,
will begin writing a twice-weekly column for the Washington Post's op-ed
page early next year.
"Mike is well-known as an eloquent writer and provocative thinker, and
I'm thrilled he's decided to do this," said editorial page editor Fred
Hiatt. "I'm sure that, with other recent additions such as Eugene Robinson
and Ruth Marcus, Mike will contribute to the liveliness, thoughtfulness and
unpredictability of our op-ed page."
Gerson will bring a broad experience in politics, the media, and
international affairs to this new role. He served as a policy director and
speechwriter on Capitol Hill; a Senior Editor at U.S. News and World Report
covering politics; a key participant in two presidential campaigns; the
head of White House speechwriting during an eventful period of history; and
a presidential policy advisor on issues from global AIDS, to malaria, to
Darfur. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign
Relations, and a regular contributor to Newsweek magazine.
Gerson expects to write about politics, culture, religion, foreign
affairs and other topics. He will work under contract to the Post, and his
columns will be syndicated by the Washington Post Writers Group.
