World's first live demonstrations at Fall 2006 VON in Boston from Sept 12
thru 14th
TOKYO, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Hitachi Cable, Ltd. (TSE: 5812) and
Stealth Communications are pleased to announce a partnership to expand
voice peering to wireless WiFi market. Visitors to Fall 2006 VON in Boston
will be able to see a range of solutions for routing wireless WiFi VoIP
calls, based on Hitachi's SIP WirelessIP handsets and Stealth's Voice
Peering Fabric, at the Hitachi Cable Booth #806.
Voice peering is the latest trend in the telecommunications industry
enabling enterprises and service providers to exchange telephone, video and
other multimedia services without transverse the public telephone network.
"This marks a major step forward for businesses that operate wireless
networks," said Shrihari Pandit, President & CEO of Stealth Communications.
"The Hitachi and Stealth partnership will provide the blueprints and
architecture to support the exchange of voice calls not only within a
wireless hotspot, but between multiple hotspots, and with Enterprise
end-to-end IP traffic backbone exchanges, yet allowing the ability to
interface with the public telephone network."
"With Stealth's 75 Billion minutes of VoIP Traffic this year (not data)
and its 18 Million registered ENUM users in its database, 99.9% of which is
SIP based, this sets the stage for extending wireless SIP calls for On-Net
IP inter-exchanges without loosing the desirable unique SIP features during
on- net calling", stated Dimitrios Stroumbakis, Technical Director, Hitachi
Cable America.
"The live demonstrations at the Hitachi Cable Booth will also feature a
range of products that will work in conjunction with our WirelessIP
handsets and Stealth's Voice Peering Fabric. Products include SIP Proxy's,
Media Gateways and Session Border Controllers from: Acme Packet, Asterisk,
Cantata Technology, Newport Networks, NexTone Communications, pbxnsip,
Sansay and SentitO Networks", collectively announced Dimitrios Stroumbakis
and Shrihari Pandit.
Located in 9 U.S. cities and London, the Voice Peering Fabric has
become the preferred platform for Service Providers, Enterprises, and
Government Agencies to exchange VoIP traffic and telephony services. VPF
functions as an exchange or meet-point and is designed as a private voice
Internet allowing members to establish peer-to-peer connections in a
secure, quality-of-service environment. Traffic on the VPF has been
forecasted to reach beyond 100 billion minutes in 2006, up from 18 billion
minutes in 2005. VPF has enabled companies to save between 50 to 90%
annually on voice communication costs.
