BEDFORD, Mass., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aware, Inc. (Nasdaq:
AWRE), a worldwide leader and innovator of broadband intellectual property,
today announced that TELUS, a leading national telecommunications company
in Canada, is using its Technician Dr. DSL to improve its DSL access
network performance. By combining the raw diagnostic data in its
ADSL/ADSL2+ modem with its advanced interpretation software running on a
technician's laptop, TELUS is using Aware's Technician Dr. DSL as a
cost-effective field-test solution for service verification testing prior
to rolling out new service offerings.
"TELUS is upgrading its copper networks to deploy high-bandwidth,
next-generation services such as IPTV and needs enhanced outside plant
diagnostics tools that can cost-effectively identify and diagnose the root
cause of network trouble," said Dino Corazza, TELUS manager of broadband
access technology. "We chose Aware's Technician Dr. DSL solution because it
has the features and functionality that enable TELUS to quickly identify
network faults and determine the best course of action, which improves
productivity and leads to higher quality service for our customers."
"Technician Dr. DSL, which includes Aware's award-winning Dr. DSL(R)
advanced diagnostics software, offers automatic data interpretation and
analysis to reduce repair time and human error in diagnosing problems in
the field, eliminating multiple truck rolls and saving the technician hours
of troubleshooting," added Jim Wahl, Aware's director of product marketing.
"TELUS recognizes the importance of an accurate, easy-to-use interface for
its technicians and chose Technician Dr. DSL as a service-level
qualification tool suitable for technicians of all skill levels as it
presents a simple color-coded 'go/no-go' decision for delivering a
carrier's service offerings."
About Dr. DSL Technician
Aware's Technician Dr. DSL uses an ADSL2/2+ modem and Dr. DSL
diagnostic software to efficiently troubleshoot common ADSL problems,
including multiple short bridged taps, AM noise ingress, data service
crosstalk, impulse noise events, and in-home problems. Technician Dr. DSL
includes Dr. DSL's Quick Test display that provides key physical and IP/ATM
layer analysis on one page, eliminating the need for technicians to drill
down through multiple menus, and Dr. DSL's SmartRx(TM), which calculates
the severity of problems and highlights each in red, yellow or green for
easy analysis. While either running on a field technician's laptop or in an
outside plant handheld test device, Aware's Technician Dr. DSL allows
outside plant technicians to easily identify the source of the disturbance
and calculate the data rate impact of each disturber.
Aware will be featuring release 2.1 of Technician Dr. DSL in its booth
