SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- MarketWatch.com (Nasdaq: MKTW)
today announced the launch of "CBS MarketWatch Weekend," a new syndicated
television show that will premiere on the weekend of September 18th-19th. The
weekly, half-hour financial newsmagazine show is slated to debut on
15 CBS-owned-and-operated stations covering most of the major markets across
the country, including KPIX in San Francisco, WCBS in New York and KCBS in Los
Angeles.
The lively, fast-paced show will be designed to give viewers a preview of
the financial markets for the week ahead, and cover topics such as market
trends, personal finance, consumer focused issues and new media news.
Emanating from both New York City and San Francisco, the show will utilize the
extensive CBS MarketWatch.com newsgathering organization, coupled with the
resources and expertise of CBS News.
Susan McGinnis, will host "CBS MarketWatch Weekend." Susan comes to
MarketWatch.com from senior anchor and reporting positions at Bloomberg and
Dow Jones Television. The program will feature reports from Ed Crain and
regular segments from MarketWatch.com reporters Betsy Karetnick and Stacey
Tisdale. Bambi Francisco will report on Internet companies and Thom Calandra,
MarketWatch.com's Editor-in-Chief, will deliver regular commentary from the
company's San Francisco headquarters. Veteran commentators Marshall Loeb and
Irwin Kellner will regularly contribute their unique perspectives from New
York.
"This show is proof that convergence is happening for CBS and it's
Internet partners," said Larry Kramer, President and CEO of MarketWatch.com.
"With the debut of CBS MarketWatch Weekend, we are extending our reach and
brand into yet another medium. The way the CBS owned-and-operated stations
and advertisers have responded to this innovative concept for a television
show signals our developing position as a dominant source for financial news."
Bob Leverone has been named Executive Producer of the new show. Before
joining MarketWatch.com, he was formerly Broadcast Media Director at
Bloomberg, where he built a radio and TV broadcast department to expand that
company's brand recognition worldwide. Leverone will produce the bulk of the
show at CBS Broadcasting Center in New York, with the remainder coming from
KPIX in San Francisco.
Executive Producer Bob Leverone says, "'CBS MarketWatch Weekend' is for
those investors who are making money because they see opportunity in the new
media, using their decision making power to make informed decisions and the
right moves in the financial markets."
Strengthening the relationship between the flagship Web site and the new
show, correspondents will answer questions posted by visitors to CBS
MarketWatch.com on the Internet. Analysts, money managers, and CEOs will also
