Sun-Netscape Alliance Announces Strategic Internet Procurement Solution For Global 2000 Companies With Support of Customers, Industry Leaders

    MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move that establishes
it as one of the leading providers of the industry's most complete Internet
procurement offering for enterprises and service providers, the Sun-Netscape
Alliance (Alliance) today unveiled its Strategic Internet Procurement solution
with support from its major customers and business liaisons (see related press
release).  The announcement details the strategy and products that customers
need to make Internet procurement a reality and redefines the emerging
Internet procurement market.
    The Alliance also announced key enhancements to its Strategic Internet
Procurement products including Netscape(R) BuyerXpert 3.0 and a new catalog
subscription service for business operations available through the Alliance
Supplier Network.

    Netscape BuyerXpert 3.0, also unveiled today, is a full-featured web-based

viewing," internationalization, a re-designed, intuitive and customizable HTML
end-user interface and enhancements for improved order-receiving functionality
and advanced workflow.  The product is shipping today.
