DALLAS, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide Flight Services, Inc., a
leading independent provider of quality aviation services, announced today the
re-certification of ISO (International Standardization Organization) 9002
Certificate of Compliance at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
This re-certification marks two years of perfect scores for JFK.
Worldwide's JFK operation was the first aviation services company in the
United States to achieve ISO 9002 certification under the scope of cargo
handling, warehousing, documentation, and aircraft handling services. This
year's extensive re-certification audit was performed on the following JFK
operations: Korean Air, Nippon Cargo Airlines, AFX, All Nippon Airways,
Cargolux, China Airlines, Aerolineas Argentinas, Iberia, Saudi Arabian
Airlines, as well as, auto maintenance, purchasing procedures, management
review, contract review, and training.
In addition to JFK, Worldwide's European subsidiary, SFS, has earned the
prestigious ISO 9002 certification at four operations in France: Charles de
Gaulle, Orly, Lille, and Toulouse.
"Worldwide Flight Services is committed to ISO 9002 standards and
establishing this standard as our customer service benchmark on a system wide
basis," said Pete Pappas, chairman & CEO for Worldwide. "The significant
resources necessary to achieve certification are testimony to our total
commitment to the highest recognized standards of service for our prestigious
customer group. The lessons we have learned by putting these standards in
place are applied to other locations giving us the ability to maintain
superior quality operations in multi-cultural, multi-site, major international
airports," said Pappas.
The International Standardization Organization was founded in 1946 to
facilitate world wide trade by standardizing quality for manufacturing and
service organizations. ISO 9002 is part of the ISO 9000 series relating to
service industries. To maintain certification, external audits are conducted
by the American Bureau of Standards Auditors twice a year, and re-
certification audits are conducted every three years.
