RESTON, Va., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has
been awarded $23.6 million to exercise an option on a U.S. Navy contract for
services in support of the operation and maintenance of the Relocatable-Over-
the-Horizon-Radar (ROTHR) systems.
Under this option, Raytheon Technical Services Company will continue to
provide operation and maintenance, engineering, and training services. Work
will be performed in Chesapeake and New Kent, Va.; King Ranch and Escondido
Ranch, Texas; and Fort Allen and Vieques, Puerto Rico, and is expected to be
complete by September 2002.

ROTHR is a high frequency radar system designed and built by Raytheon to
provide early warning of strikes against aircraft carrier task forces.
Especially suited for long-range surveillance of large open water areas, the
ROTHR systems have been successfully redeployed for long range detection and
monitoring of air traffic in the U.S. government's war against drugs.
