CMP Media's Embedded Systems Conference Boston Focused on the Latest Trends,
Tools and Design Methodologies
BOSTON, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CMP Media today announced that
pre-show registration and exhibitor participation for its 13th annual Embedded
Systems Conference (ESC) Boston (http://www.embedded.com/esc) exceeded 2003 numbers.
The event opens today at the Hynes Convention Center and runs through
September 16, 2004.
"Embedded systems developers are constantly working to balance performance
and power consumption against meeting critical design deadlines," said Lindsey
Vereen, conference director. "By looking at innovations on the horizon -- both
in design tools and manufacturing -- ESC Boston will be the forum for
engineers and engineering managers of processor-based systems to address
challenges in programming and real-time design."
More than 130 leading hardware and software providers will be showcasing
innovative, breakthrough technology and products at the exhibition Tuesday and
Wednesday. Among the exhibitors are Accelerated Technology, Atmel, Freescale
Semiconductor, Green Hills Software, LynuxWorks, Mentor Graphics, Motorola,
and Xilinx.
"Accelerated Technology is looking at the growing needs of the embedded
developer for a complete development solution adhering to today's industry
standards," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Accelerated Technology.
"At this year's Embedded Systems Conference Boston, we will be launching
Nucleus EDGE, a comprehensive embedded tools solution utilizing the emerging
Eclipse platform, giving embedded users a common and open environment to
manage and develop there products regardless of processor or real-time
operating system (RTOS). This event provides an excellent opportunity for us
to educate new and existing customers on our latest product developments in
person through product demos and presentations on the exhibit floor."
Event Keynote Addresses Offshoring of Engineering Jobs
On Tuesday, September 14, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Dan Saks will
deliver the keynote address, "Keeping Your Job Onshore." He will discuss how
software developers can make themselves more valuable in the marketplace amid
the trend toward offshoring. Saks is a writer for Embedded Systems
Programming, and C++ guru who served for many years on the International C++
standard committee.
Embedded Security Seminar Covers Growing Market Concern
The three-day technical program will co-locate at the conference
September 13-15, and feature full-day tutorials on Monday by the Trusted
Computing Group and technical staff from Atmel, IBM, Intel, Safenet, as well
as a series of classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. The seminar is sponsored by
Atmel and LynuxWorks. Kevin Ashton, co-founder of MIT Auto-ID Center, and vice
president of ThingMagic, a development firm specializing in embedded
intelligence technologies, will present the Tuesday-evening keynote from
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Attendees can register for the Embedded Security
Seminar individually, or together with the Embedded Systems Conference Boston.
Learn the Latest Advanced Design Methods
ESC Boston's conference sessions will delve into important design topics,
including UML, TCP/IP networking, Linux/Open Source, real-time development,
and high availability design. These sessions focus on delivering the technical
insight necessary to make embedded system designs stronger, faster, and more
reliable. Each class and tutorial provides practical answers to the toughest
questions, and teaches skills and techniques that can be implemented
immediately. A full-schedule of the conference program with details on classes
