ZEELAND, Mich., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gentex Corporation
(Nasdaq: GNTX), the leading supplier of automatic-dimming mirrors to the
worldwide automotive industry, is shipping automatic-dimming mirrors for the
2004 BMW 5 Series, 6 Series convertible and coupe, and the X3 Sports Activity
Vehicle.
Gentex mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of
vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the
mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.
The new 5 Series offers interior and exterior auto-dimming mirrors in a
popular option package.
A Gentex three-mirror, auto-dimming system comes optional on the 6 Series,
and the base interior mirror can be upgraded to include Johnson Controls'
HomeLink(R) Wireless Control System. Three buttons conveniently located on
the face of the mirror can be programmed to operate garage doors, estate
gates, security systems, home lighting, and other radio frequency-controlled
devices.
The all-new X3 offers a base interior auto-dimming mirror as part of an
option package, with HomeLink as an additional upgrade to the mirror.
"Gentex mirrors have been a fixture on various BMW models for many years,
and these new mirror programs illustrate our continued, growing relationship
with the manufacturer. It's especially exciting to be a part of the new X3
model, because sports-activity and crossover vehicles are increasing in
popularity," said Gentex Executive Vice President Garth Deur.
