COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- A new managed asset allocation
service that helps consumers match their risk tolerance with their investment
goals is now available to them through their financial professional.
Nationwide Allocation Architect(SM) is a managed asset allocation service
available on certain variable universal life (VUL) products issued by
Nationwide Life Insurance Company or Nationwide Life and Annuity Insurance
Company, Columbus, OH. The new service was launched today by Nationwide
Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: NFS), through its affiliated company,
Nationwide Investment Services Corporation (NISC), a registered investment
advisor and NASD member.
Nationwide Allocation Architect(SM) enables VUL policy owners to have
their variable contract assets invested according to one of five asset
allocation models. There is no additional charge to consumers for this
service. Working with their financial professional, consumers can determine
their risk tolerance and then decide which asset allocation investment model
makes sense for them.
NISC has partnered with Ibbotson Associates Advisors L.L.C. Ibbotson
provides an investor profiling tool, asset allocation models and investment
option selections that make up the Nationwide Allocation Architect(SM) models.
Ibbotson is a recognized authority on asset classes and their historical
behavior, and has helped their clients balance investment risk and return
based on their goals and objectives for more than 25 years.
"Consumers can choose from five asset allocation models -- conservative,
moderately conservative, moderate, moderately aggressive and aggressive --
which serve as the financial blueprint for the consumer's portfolio," said
Peter Golato, senior vice president of Individual Protection for Nationwide
Financial. "After a client's risk tolerance has been determined, NISC and
Ibbotson work together to bring the models and investment choices for simple
and professional asset allocation."
Golato said Nationwide Allocation Architect(SM) provides:
- a disciplined approach to investment through diversification
- an easier way to manage assets
- investment guidance.
Financial professionals will find Nationwide Allocation Architect(SM)
helps make doing business with Nationwide easier and more convenient. It
allows the financial professional to focus more time on his or her clients'
financial futures and less time on tedious paperwork.
"Nationwide Allocation Architect helps financial professionals match their
client's risk tolerance with their investment goals," said Golato. "Using
predetermined asset allocation models, Nationwide works with financial
professionals to provide a model for underlying investment selections within
the variable product."
At least twice yearly, Ibbotson will review the five models' portfolios to
verify they meet each model's objectives. Each quarter, NISC will rebalance
all five models back to their original allocations. Policy owners are notified
in writing of any model updates before they occur, giving them the opportunity
to remain in their chosen model, select a different model or terminate their
participation in the Nationwide Allocation Architect(SM) program.
It is important to note that neither Nationwide nor its agents or
representatives give legal or tax advice. Clients should consult their
attorney or tax adviser for answers to specific tax questions.
