Digital Televisions Introduced for the First Time at THE GOOD GUYS!

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- As television stations around the
country are preparing to convert from standard analog broadcast to the new
digital high definition television (HDTV) format, THE GOOD GUYS!
(Nasdaq: GGUY) is introducing the first digital televisions available for
consumers to purchase in the Sacramento area. On Thursday,
September 17, beginning at 6:00 p.m., visitors to THE GOOD GUYS! store on
Arden Way in Sacramento will have the chance to see a demonstration of this
amazing new TV, as well as one of the first opportunities in the country to
purchase one.
Sacramento is the fifth city in a special THE GOOD GUYS! roadshow of
successful market-by-market HDTV introductions that continue to build
excitement and enthusiasm for digital televisions. The Sacramento launch
follows those in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle where
thousands of interested viewers have been astounded by their first glimpse of
the new generation of TVs. In the days ahead, additional THE GOOD GUYS! stores
will be displaying and selling the new sets.

Digital televisions will eventually replace today's standard analog
televisions. Among the first manufacturers to distribute digital HDTV-capable
sets to retailers in the United States is Panasonic, and THE GOOD GUYS! will
be the first to offer it for sale in the Sacramento area. The set is a
56-inch, high-definition, cinema-style wide screen priced at $5,499. It also
has the capability to enhance regular NTSC (broadcast, cable, DSS, DVD, VHS,
etc.) by more than doubling the lines of resolution. It will require an
optional set-top receiver to display HD broadcasts.
Customers who are interested in learning more about the new digital
HDTV-capable sets can come to the store, located at 2100 Arden Way in
Sacramento, where Sales Associates trained in digital HDTV will demonstrate
the set's many features.
