New 330 and 335 Portable Terminals Targeted at Industrial Users
EUGENE, Ore., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Percon Incorporated (Nasdaq: PRCN),
a leading manufacturer of automatic data collection systems, today announced
details of its new Falcon 330 and 335 handheld portable data terminals. The
new Falcon 330 batch and Falcon 335 wireless -- the most compact and rugged
units in the Falcon line -- are perfect for data capture applications in harsh
industrial settings.
"The Falcon is tough enough to be used in the industrial market, but
retains the Falcon platform's capabilities and technological features," says
Ken Phillips, vice president of marketing. "Weighing in at under 12 ounces,
the Falcon 330 provides our customers with one of the lightest, most powerful
data collection terminals on the market while meeting the demand for an
extremely rugged portable computer terminal."
The Falcon 330 and 335 operate on the same platform as the existing Falcon
line, so VARs, integrators and resellers can use current software tools and
applications, including IntelliTrack and IntelliTrack RF, to support the new
portable. The Falcon 330 and 335 are ergonomically designed and feature a
large, easy-to-read screen and full-featured keyboard for ease of use.
Key features that contribute to the compact size, reduced weight and
durability of the 330 and 335 include an internal antenna (335 only), a
built-in, front-shooting laser and an environmentally sealed case. The
internal PC card Type I/II slot supports 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN
Standard BreezeCOM, Lucent and Symbol 2.4 GHz radios as well as 2.4GHz Proxim
RangeLAN2 radios, or ATA flash cards. Other features include an IR
communications port, a 486 class processor, 8MB of RAM standard, a 16 line
display and DOS 6.22 as the operating system.
"With the addition of the Falcon 330 and 335, Percon's Falcon line of
portable computer terminals is extended in functionality to meet warehousing,
manufacturing or supply chain needs," adds Phillips. "We are expecting the
Falcon 330 and 335 to be well received by our channel partners because it
provides them with a broader array of high quality, cost-effective data
collection solutions to meet their customers' needs."
Percon plans to unveil its new Falcon 330 and 335 handheld portable data
terminals during SCANTECH Booth 1117, October 5-7, 1999, at the Rosemont
Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois.
