blood flowing in a blood vessel per unit of time, is the basic determinant of
organ perfusion.  As a fundamental parameter in the viability of organs, blood
flow is essential to practically all medical disciplines. Blood flow must be
taken into account by the neurosurgeon who treats head trauma patients; by the
vascular surgeon who performs stenting and other vascular procedures; by the
