NEWBURYPORT, Mass., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- FluidSense Corporation
provides products, services, and information tools to help hospitals improve
their efficiency, clinical safety and efficacy, and patient satisfaction. All
hospitals today have the need to improve in each of these areas and many of
them recognize the need to do something about it.
The improved IV therapy process starts with FluidSense's smaller, lighter,
simpler, lower cost, and more useful intravenous infusion pump.
The device supports several forms of wireless communication to avoid
errors and increase efficiency. Unique FluidSense technologies reduce the
cause of many false alarms.
New information transfer technologies are used to reduce keystrokes at the
bedside, an inevitable source of error. The nurse, however, armed with these
new tools, remains in control at the bedside and simply has more time to
devote to the patient.
Because of its versatility, the FluidSense pump can, for the first time in
history, serve as the only pump a hospital needs for each IV therapy
application. It covers the full rate range needed from slow critical
infusions for newborns to speeds twice as fast as traditional IV pumps. The
pump operates with all kinds of standard IV fluid containers, including
syringes. Because of its new pumping technology, the device operates on
rechargeable batteries, allowing patients to move around more easily without
power cords. It can also be worn into the shower.
To make best use of the new technologies and information tools, FluidSense
provides a well trained and well equipped team on-site at the hospital,
allowing nurses to concentrate on their high value activities.
On a simple fee per-patient-per day basis, FluidSense provides a
combination of proprietary technologies, an on site service team, and unique
information tools. Costs are low, predictable, and vary with the hospital's
census.
Various market trends are affecting the acceptance of the new FluidSense
IV process. In 1999, the Institute of Medicine reported that medication
errors were a leading cause of death. Since then, the topic has been
frequently discussed in the public forum. There is also recognition that most
hospitals are facing a shortage of qualified nurses. Hospitals are faced with
the prospect of maintaining quality care with fewer nurses, so improved
productivity is required.
FluidSense is a privately held corporation of over 50 people (Summer 2000)
with headquarters in Newburyport Massachusetts, just northeast of Boston. It
has a growing number of field offices to support each of its clinical
operations. FluidSense has been in the market and providing value to nurses
and patients since July 2000.
