RF Power Semiconductors Deliver the Highest Performance in Cost-effective
                              Plastic Packaging

    BOSTON, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE --
The industry's first 2 GHz discrete RF power transistor in cost-effective
plastic packaging, the MRF5S19060MR1, is now available from Motorola
(NYSE: MOT). Representing a significant breakthrough in RF power development,
the device is designed to deliver 12 watts of average power when used in
N-CDMA amplifier systems at 1.93 to 1.99 GHz.
Additional typical 2-carrier N-CDMA performance characteristics of the
MRF5S19060MR1 include:

     -- Gain - 13.2 dB
     -- ACPR - -51dBc
     -- IM3 - -37 dBc
     -- Drain efficiency - 22%

The MRF5S19060M is also qualified with an operating junction temperature
of 200 degrees Celsius in plastic, another industry first. Motorola will
continue to qualify its entire family of plastic packages with 200 degrees C
operating junction temperatures.
The use of plastic packaging for high power RF is the future direction of
the industry because of the following benefits:

-- Tight mechanical tolerances: less than 50 microns
-- Robust structure with more than 30 years history in automotive
        applications
-- Cost savings over ceramic resulting in lower system cost
-- Copper heat sink for excellent thermal resistance
     -- MSL3 at 260 degrees C Reflow
     -- Multiple mounting options
     -- 200 degrees C device junction temperature

"Motorola continues to invest in highly innovative solutions that offer
our customers high-performance and cost-effectiveness," said Lynelle McKay,
vice president and general manager of Motorola's RF & DSP Infrastructure
Division. "The introduction of power RF plastic at 2 GHz is a major
breakthrough in technology development, and combined with 200 degrees
C junction temperatures, offers tremendous benefits to the power amplifier
market."

    Pricing and Availability
The initial offering will be followed by a comprehensive portfolio of
devices and will accommodate various power, modulation and frequency
requirements.
Samples of the MRF5S19060MR1 are available now with production quantities
expected to be available in Q4 2003. The 10K suggested resale price for the
MRF5S19060MR1 is $45.00 (USD). For more information please visit
