FPL Restoration Expected to Be Complete Today

JUNO BEACH, FL USA
    JUNO BEACH, Fla., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power & Light Company
said the majority of the customers who lost power in the wake of Tropical
Storm Gabrielle have had their service restored.  The remainder will be
essentially restored by the end of the day today.

their cooperation, understanding and patience," said Armando Olivera, FPL
senior vice president of power systems.  "I am also very proud of our
employees, their storm restoration efforts and their dedication to serving our
customers."
    FPL will keep customers updated on restoration progress via the news media
and its "Storm Center" site at http://www.fpl.com .
    As of 5:30 a.m. Sunday, FPL was completing service restoration for
approximately 90,000 homes and businesses.  Outages by county were:


    Southwest Florida                 Northeast/Central Florida
    Charlotte - 4,000                 St. Johns - 7,000
    DeSoto - 2,000                    Putnam - 1,000
    Manatee - 35,000                  Flagler - 1,000
    Sarasota - 40,000
