Coding Standards Now Fully Customizable With Unit Testing Product For
Web Services Built With the Microsoft(R) .NET Framework

announced today the addition of RuleWizard to Parasoft .TEST, enabling users
of .TEST to easily customize and create coding standards for the development
of Web services and applications built with the Microsoft(R) .NET Framework.
Since its release in May, .TEST has shipped with a set of over
200 built-in coding standards, or language-specific rules that help prevent
software errors. With the addition of RuleWizard, users can now design custom
coding standards by graphically expressing the pattern they want .TEST to find
during static analysis. Rules are created using a point-and-click interface,
which enables developers to select a main "node," then add elements until the
rule expresses the pattern they wish to detect.
"It's common knowledge that the same errors tend to occur over and over in
software development, because most companies fix errors without fixing the
process that allowed them to occur -- this is evident from simply watching

What are Coding Standards?
Coding standards are language-specific rules that have been defined by
industry experts, language-specific communities, industry consortia, the
government and individual companies for most programming languages, to prevent
the most common and damaging errors in software code. By analyzing how bugs
are generated, and correlating these bugs to specific coding practices, they
are able to develop a set of rules that could be used to help prevent such
errors from occurring. In a group environment, coding standards ensure
uniform coding practices, reducing the occurrence of errors and the time spent
