functionality of a desktop system in an ultra-light portable computer, Gateway
(NYSE: GTW) today introduced the new enhanced Solo(R) 3350, its next
generation of ultraportables.  The Gateway(TM) Solo 3350 offers powerful
features in a lightweight, no-compromise notebook computer.  It provides
industry-leading expansion and other high-performance features important to
business and consumer users as well as clients in government and education
markets.  The new Solo 3350 is also available with Windows 2000, which Gateway
recommends for business clients, due to its enhanced security and mobile
features.
    Featuring a sturdy blue metallic, magnesium alloy lid, the Solo 3350 is
both a stylish and durable notebook for business travelers, academic
professionals, students and SOHO clients.  With prices starting at $2,199, the
Solo 3350 packs the power of Intel(R) Pentium(R) III 600MHz processors with
SpeedStep(TM) Technology for fast performance with a brilliant high-resolution
display which provides crisp images for streaming video, graphics applications
and Web content.  Measuring just one-inch thin and weighing 3.65 pounds
(weight varies by configuration), the Solo 3350 features a 12.1-inch
high-resolution display enabling clients to view more text on screen, ideal
for applications such as spreadsheets, presentations and games.  To maximize
business customers' productivity, the Solo 3350 is available with Windows(R)
2000 Professional, which Microsoft(R) designed to be highly reliable and
secure.

    Industry-Leading Expansion and Computing Features
    The Solo 3350 provides performance, reliability and stability, allowing
SOHO, corporate, government and education customers to connect to the
Internet, their office network and multiple peripherals from the road.  The
Solo 3350's Ultra Port Replicator II provides a one-step connection to desktop
peripherals such as a printer, monitor, mouse and keyboard.  The port
replicator enables users to transition quickly and easily from the road to the
office and back again.  Ports include VGA monitor, parallel, USB, two PS/2,
RJ-45 network, RJ-11 phone, serial, sound and microphone ports and external
media bay connector.
    Extending its robust functionality, the Solo 3350 features a standard
external media bay which allows users to carry only the peripherals they'll
need, keeping travel weight to a minimum.  All systems include a floppy disk
drive, and a CD-ROM drive is standard on consumer models, optional on business
models.  Gateway also offers an optional DVD-ROM drive, allowing users to
customize their system to best fit their usability requirements.  The Solo
3350's integrated v.90 modem and 10/100 Ethernet adapter allows business and
consumer users alike to access the Internet, connect to the office network and
use multiple peripherals without carrying additional components.
    The Solo 3350's advanced functionality and expandability features are
combined in a small form factor powerful enough to satisfy the demands of
highly mobile professionals, SOHO clients, field service and sales

life.  An Offline Folders feature enables mobile users to access network-based
files, folders and favorite web sites when disconnected from the network.
Increased peripheral support allows users to easily connect USB, IEEE 1394
devices, DVDs and scanners.
