Deployment of SurePay(R) Solution Integrates BTL's Existing GSM, AMPS and
Wireline Charging / Billing Systems in One Platform
BELIZE CITY, Belize, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belize
Telecommunications Limited (BTL), the leading provider of telecommunication
services in the Country of Belize, and Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU),
today announced an agreement for Lucent to deploy a real-time rating and
charging solution for BTL voice and data services.
BTL will be launching soon a range of new and enhanced services to its
prepaid customers using Lucent's SurePay(R) Real Time Rating and Charging
Engine, which has been commercially deployed in networks worldwide with a
base of more than 135 million subscribers.
The Lucent SurePay(R) solution is a highly scalable, converged
pre-paid/post-paid billing solution that provides support for a wide
variety of voice, data, content charging and e-commerce services.

growing prepaid customer base, we will leverage Lucent's SurePay platform
to support a wide range of flexible payment plans, service bundles and
promotions targeted to particular customer segments," said Dean Boyce,

Lucent is also supplying BTL with a Short Message Service Center (SMSC)
platform with the Wireless Messaging Gateway (WMG) module that allows users
to send and receive short messages to and from email addresses.
Lucent Worldwide Services is in charge of integrating the SurePay(R)
application with the customer's current infrastructure and provide complete
installation and integration of the Lucent applications suite.
