AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FirstMerit Corporation
(Nasdaq: FMER) announced the appointment of Kenneth A. Dorsett as Executive
Vice President and head of the bank's Wealth Management Services segment.
Dorsett comes to FirstMerit with a twenty-year track record in wealth
management including sales and marketing, strategic planning, financial and
investment management, and estate planning.

Prior to joining FirstMerit, Dorsett served in the Private Wealth
Management Group at Mellon Bank and as Senior Vice President and National
Sales Manager for Private Banking at PNC Bank in Pittsburgh. Additionally,
he was President and CEO of Everest Advisors, a leading wealth management
consulting firm, and he was a Principal with the Bank Services Group for
Heffler, Radetich and Saitta, LLP, in Pittsburgh.

Dorsett has a bachelor's degree from The University of Akron and an MBA
