OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Devon Energy
Corporation (NYSE: DVN) today announced that the company has pledged $2
million to assist individuals and communities impacted by Hurricanes Gustav
and Ike.
"We are eager to lend our help alongside the many community agencies
that assist hurricane victims along the Gulf Coast," said Larry Nichols,
chairman and chief executive officer. "Community involvement is a core
value at Devon and we are inspired by our employees and fellow citizens as
they generously respond to natural disasters such as this."
Devon's employees are also making contributions to relief efforts
through the Devon Energy Charitable Foundation. These contributions are
assisting those Devon employees who lost their homes to the storms or who
have been affected in other ways. In addition to the $2 million pledge,
Devon is matching all cash contributions made by the company's employees to
the foundation.
