Worldwide Flight Services Retains Top Firm For Security Assessment

FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide Flight Services, one
of the world's leading providers of ground services to the aviation industry,
announced today it had retained a top security firm, Yeffet Security
Consultants, Inc., to conduct a comprehensive global survey of Worldwide's
security procedures and systems.
Worldwide noted that it has operations at some 86 airports throughout the
world and more than 10,000 employees.
"It is essential that we assure ourselves that we have taken every
possible step to prevent breaches of security or illegal activity," said Peter
Pappas, chairman and chief executive officer of Worldwide. "We are fortunate
that Yeffet was available to do the survey."
Pappas noted that the president of the firm, Isaac Yeffet, is a former
director of the Security Division of El Al Israel Airlines, a former senior
intelligence director in the Israeli Secret Service and former director of
security for all Israeli diplomatic operations in the Western Hemisphere. He
also has done security surveys for several other major airlines, Pappas said.
"We have asked Yeffet to examine all of our operations around the world
and to make recommendations to raise our security systems and procedures to a
new level," Pappas said. "This is a matter we take very seriously, and our
employees understand our policy of zero tolerance for any kind of illegal or
illicit activity."
Pappas noted that Worldwide was in a transitional period under new owners,
Castle Harlan Partners III L.P., a private equity investment fund managed by
Castle Harlan Inc., the New York merchant bank. The company was acquired in
March from AMR Corp., the parent of American Airlines, and its name was
changed from AMR Services to Worldwide Flight Services.
"It is appropriate that we undertake this assessment now," said Pappas,
"so that we and our new owners can be assured that all precautions have been
taken and any remedial actions are addressed."
