Relationship Calls for Unique Pairing of Collegiate &
Association Management for Host
GEORGETOWN, Ky., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgetown College recently
appointed Host Communications, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of
Bull Run Corporation (Nasdaq: BULL), to manage the Alumni Association for the
storied institution, founded in 1829. The announcement was made official
today by Georgetown College President Dr. William H. Crouch and W. James Host,
founder and CEO of Host Communications.
"We are excited about the possibilities to develop a quality association
that will be an immediate benefit to our more than 15,000 alumni who are
spread across the country," said Dr. Crouch. "We look forward to moving ahead
in accomplishing our goal of building this important component to our school's
future. We know that with Host's vast capabilities in the collegiate and
affinity management business it will undoubtedly be a superior partnership."
Effective immediately, Host will start the process of establishing the
groundwork for the Georgetown College Alumni Association. This relationship
not only signifies a first of its kind -- never before has a college or
university hired a professional management services company to take on this
role -- but a unique opportunity for Host to "return to its roots." This
commitment with Georgetown College will allow Host to once again couple the
strengths of its collegiate and association management business, two
capabilities on which the company was founded in 1972 (as Jim Host &
Associates).
"This is a magnificent opportunity to work with Dr. Crouch and the others
at Georgetown College," said Host. "We couldn't be more thrilled to play a
part in the future success of this reputable institution, and we look forward
to building a professional, functional, educational and viable alumni
association to accommodate this affinity group now and in the future."
As part of this agreement, Host Communications will oversee the following
functions: production for all alumni publications and advertising sales;
enhancement of the Georgetown College alumni web site and execution of
coordinating sales; the creation of, and marketing for, a membership benefit
package for Georgetown college alumni; and implementation of software packages
as necessary for the development of the alumni membership database.
Additionally, Host will design, create and maintain a new web page
specifically dedicated to foster alumni relations, to include on-line
membership registration, a membership directory, as well as information on
special events, alumni benefits and career networking opportunities.
Another component of the Host -- Georgetown College relationship is that
Host will provide a scholarship to the school. In turn, Georgetown College
will select a student intern to work on the Alumni Association project with
Host Communications.
"We want to continue being an innovative school for our students, faculty
and graduates, and believe this is the right step in us fulfilling that
promise. We have the utmost confidence in Host and the many talents and
resources it can bring to the table. We're also excited to be part of what
will be a reunion for Host -- 'blending' together for the first time again its
years of experience in the collegiate and association management industries,"
said Dr. Crouch.
Lexington, Ky.-based Host Communications, Inc., recently named one of the
top five sports marketing companies in the world by SportsBusiness Journal, is
the marketing partner for 11 universities and five conferences. Its "Affinity
Management" business division, named Affinity Management International, will
be primarily responsible for overseeing the Georgetown College relationship.
In addition to its collegiate business, Host Communications has publishing,
printing, Interactive, events and broadcasting divisions.
