Company Receives $250,000 for Distributorship for the
Nations and Territories of the Caribbean
WILTON, Conn., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Startech Environmental
Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: STHK), announced today the appointment of the
PlasmaTech Corporation of San Juan, Puerto Rico as its exclusive distributor
for the Territories and Island Nations of the Greater and Lesser Antilles. The
Company has received a $250,000 irrevocable payment for this distributorship
agreement.
The agreement requires PlasmaTech to purchase a ten ton-per-day Plasma
Converter System, or larger, by May 25, 2005. In addition, the agreement
requires PlasmaTech to purchase a minimum number of Startech Plasma Converter
Systems to maintain the distributorship.
"Solid Waste Management and its effect on public health and safety are
critical concerns in Puerto Rico and throughout the Territories and Island
Nations of the Caribbean," said Enrique Ruiz, president of PlasmaTech. "In the
Island Nation marketplace, there is a great dependence on invisible earnings
such as tourism. The need to support and expand the economic shift to tourism
in many island nations has been obstructed by problematic solid waste handling
practices -- practices for the most part that are archaic that also adversely
impact public health and safety."
He continues, "Many of the islands in the Caribbean area are densely
populated with much of the population encroaching onto coastal, marginal and
environmentally sensitive lands. With our expertise, experience and knowledge
we and Startech will bring Plasma Converters to the Caribbean to implement
affordable and efficacious Solid Waste Management Plans and Practices."
VP of Startech sales, Steve Landa, said, "In addition to the improvement
of public health and safety, our Converters will provide clean energy for
power generation, producing hydrogen and creating fresh water."
