Through the partnership, RMI.NET will offer members and viewers of Rocky
Mountain PBS a chance to purchase Internet access and related services. Rocky
Mountain PBS will then receive a percentage of all RMI.NET sales for those
participating in the offer, which will go to support public television efforts
in Colorado.
"This agreement is a winning combination for RMI.NET and Rocky Mountain
PBS because it matches our expertise as an Internet and commerce solutions
provider with support of public television," said Douglas H. Hanson, chairman
and chief executive officer for RMI.NET. "We firmly believe in using our
business strengths in support of worthwhile community efforts."
"Our agreement with RMI.NET allows us to offer quality Internet services
to our viewers, while ultimately supporting public television in Denver and
Colorado," said James Morgese, president and general manager for Rocky
Mountain PBS. "Creative public-private partnership efforts such as this
agreement help support the continuation of public television."
Rocky Mountain PBS was Colorado's first public television station. It
began operations January 30, 1956 as a service of the Denver Public School
system. In 1987, the broadcast license was transferred from the public
schools to the Council for Public Television, Channel SIX Inc., the
Denver-based community advisory organization and major fundraising arm for
KRMA-TV.
Now called Rocky Mountain PBS, the station broadcasts 24-hours a day,
seven days a week. Rocky Mountain PBS serves viewers in communities from the
Western Slope to southern Colorado and beyond on three channels: KRMA,
Channel 6, Denver; KRMJ, Channel 18, Grand Junction; and KTSC, Channel 8,
Pueblo. Rocky Mountain PBS is also seen in most of North America, as it is
the public television signal chosen for the channel lineup by numerous
satellite services.
In addition, Rocky Mountain PBS is affiliated with the Store of Knowledge,
located at the Park Meadows Mall and the Denver International Airport in
Denver, plus other subsidiary activities serving the viewers and residents of
Colorado.
