announced today the appointment of Gayle Mills to vice president, Business
Development. Ms. Mills will report to Raymond Withy, Ph.D., Abgenix's chief
business officer, and will lead its growing business development department.

Ms. Mills was recently vice president of Business Development at EOS
Biotechnology. Prior to that position, her role was vice president of
Business Development and Strategic Marketing for the Neurobiology Unit at
Roche Bioscience. Prior to Roche, Ms. Mills was director of Business
Development at Affymax Technologies and at Syntex Corporation. Ms. Mills
holds a Master of Business Administration from Santa Clara University and a
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the College of
Notre Dame.
