Rational Suite TestStudio Wins Best Product Award From Windows & .NET
Magazine; Rational Robot Named Best Functional Test Automation Tool by Yphise

Rational Software (Nasdaq: RATL) today announced that Windows & .NET Magazine
has honored Rational Suite(R) TestStudio(R) with the Readers' Choice Award for
Best Testing/Debugging Software. In addition, Rational(R) Robot was named the
Best Functional Test Automation Tool by Yphise, a leading analyst firm
providing independent assessments of software products.

Rational Suite TestStudio won the Windows & .NET Magazine award over
products from Compuware Corp., Mercury Interactive Corp., Mutek Solutions and
Quest Software Inc. Technology vendors were invited to nominate their
products for inclusion on the Readers' Choice ballot. Readers were asked to
vote their preferences in 16 broad technology categories and on nearly 90
technology products.
The most recent version of Rational Suite TestStudio, released in June
2002, includes ScriptAssure, an industry-first capability that produces
resilient test scripts for testing Java- and Web-based business applications.
This version of Rational Suite TestStudio also adds Java as a scripting
language, which allows testers to collaborate with developers to create
powerful test suites. In addition, Rational Suite TestStudio includes IBM
WebSphere Studio Workbench, a full-function Java IDE built on Eclipse
technology that integrates with IBM's WebSphere Studio products.
