Ground Zero Chiropractic Volunteer to Share Never-Before-Seen Photos at Alumni Weekend 2002, Western States Chiropractic College

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Western States Chiropractic
College will host its annual Alumni Weekend (AKA Homecoming) on Friday,
October 4th and Saturday, October 5th at their campus in Northeast Portland.
The Alumni Weekend events will include an awards luncheon to honor Outstanding
Alumnus, Outpatient Intern, Student and Faculty Member of the year 2002.
Following the luncheon, Dr. Christopher Rickard (class of '92) will comment on
his experiences of the past year as a chiropractic volunteer at Ground Zero,
and will share many never-before-seen photographs taken over the course of the
year.
The events of 9/11 have caused us all to focus more fervently on that
which is truly important in life -- family, friends and the simple things in
life that bring us joy. Children are particularly gifted in seeing through the
clutter of life to identify that which brings us happiness. The Saturday
events of Alumni Weekend 2002 will include an auction of artwork created by
the children of Western States Chiropractic College faculty, students and
staff. Proceeds benefit the college Endowment Fund.
Alumni in attendance will also benefit from a seminar entitled "e-
Marketing Your Practice in the Digital Age." This presentation highlights the
use of "viral marketing" to communicate with one's patients and build one's
patient base.
The college will kick-off the festivities of this celebration on the
evening of October 4th with entertainment by Curtis Salgado, a barbeque and
dancing at which alumni, students, faculty, staff and guests will have the
opportunity to socialize and reminisce. Alumni Weekend serves as the class
reunion for several graduating classes this year. The event will host the
reunions of the classes of 1952, 1962, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992 and 1997.
Press passes to the event and media kits may be obtained by calling Lori
Brockman at (503) 251-2836. Western States Chiropractic College was
established in 1904 and is renowned for its evidence-based, scientific
curriculum and its dedication to academic excellence. Students at Western
States Chiropractic College consistently score higher than the national
average on their NCBE Board Exams. The college is also known as being a
pioneer in chiropractic research, and was the first chiropractic college ever
to receive a federally funded research grant through HRSA (the Health
Resources & Services Administration -- a division of the U.S. Department of
Health & Human Services). For further information, please visit our web site
