PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- SPECTRA SYSTEMS today announced
the appointment of Timothy J. Driscoll, Ph.D. as Vice President of Materials
Engineering, effective September 3rd.
Dr. Driscoll will manage the efforts of the expanding Materials Group,
which will continue to develop new products for current markets, as well as
develop new materials for other markets that the Company has targeted.
Specialized materials have been the foundation of the Company's early
commercial success and management believes they will be key to future,
recurring organic revenue growth.

Dr. Driscoll has assumed different leading roles within the Spectra
Materials R&D Group since late 1995. He received a B.S. in Physics from
Renssselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Brown
University. He completed a post doctoral position at the Laboratoire
D'Optique Quantitique at the Ecole Polytechnique in France and has led or
assisted in dozens of publications and lectures, throughout the world, related
to optical materials and their properties.
