GLENCOE, Ill., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Planetary Motion, Inc., founded in
1997, has introduced CoolMail(TM), a service enabling busy people on-the-go to
retrieve and send e-mail messages all by telephone. A CoolMail member places
a local call, listens to a short commercial message appropriate to their
demographics, proceeds to hear and reply to e-mail which has been consolidated
from their other e-mail accounts. The company will introduce several levels
of CoolMail, each offering different features and functionality, including
access to personal and corporate information, outbound notification and voice
print identification for increased security. The basic level, CoolMail
Bronze, is free. Premium levels start at $2.95 per month. The company is
targeting its services to the mobile professional either through their company
or to a professional organization to which they may belong. Revenues are
generated through advertisements and monthly subscriptions for premium
services.
The future of CoolMail will be the topic presented by Bob Newman, CEO and
Michael O'Roark, President of Planetary Motion at the Illinois Venture Capital
Conference in Chicago on September 24th at 10:00 a.m.
After just eight weeks of operation, the service is live in 13 major
markets and the company currently has 100,000 members and is already
delivering over 750,000 impressions per month by phone and at their website.
It has an exclusive arrangement with Lowestfare.com, an online travel site
that is owned by Carl Icahn, for all of its customers to be enrolled in
CoolMail. In addition, the Global Development Fund, which sends volunteers
around the world to help under-developed countries, is using CoolMail as a
member benefit. Planetary Motion is in discussions with Allstate Insurance,
Alliance Business Centers, HQ Business Centers, 3M, Morgan Stanley, The
American Bar Association, and Kraft Foods.
Planetary Motion plans to introduce CoolMail in the remaining top 50
markets in the US and Canada by the end of 1998. They've initiated a major
marketing program for rollout to large corporations and associations. In
1999, they will continue to expand and establish the first POP in Europe.
The company seeks an additional $4,000,000 in funding over the next two
years.
