CHICAGO, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- AgilTech Inc. is a leader in the
manufacturing engineering software market. AgilTech products serve market
subsets of the computer-aided production engineering market (CAPE), with a
total annual software license potential of more than $500 million.
The company was formed in October 1997 by the employees of the Software
Division of the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences, Inc. (IAMS). In
February 1998, AgilTech purchased the Software Division from IAMS with venture
funding. AgilTech currently employs 30 people.
AgilTech is an active business with software product installations at over
1,000 customer sites. AgilTech's two main products are MetCAPP and
CostDesigner. MetCAPP is a software tool used by engineers to plan the
manufacture of parts and products. MetCAPP solves an important problem for
manufacturing companies, that is, making best use of manufacturing assets and
optimizing the production of products while achieving quality and consistency
at the lowest cost.
CostDesigner, released in August 1998, is an affordably priced
cost-estimating solution as a "plug-in" to leading solid-modeling mechanical
CAD applications. CostDesigner solves the common problem that design
engineers do not understand manufacturing and its associated cost drivers.
Often initial designs cost too much to produce and do not follow good
manufacturing practices. This adds to overall design-to-manufacture time
since numerous iterations of the design are required.
The AgilTech management team and Board of Directors are its strongest
assets. The combined industrial experience of management totals more than 100
man-years, primarily in software or high-technology companies. Each
management team member has personally invested in the company. The core
AgilTech team has been together for several years building existing AgilTech
products while at IAMS. Coupled with an active and involved Board, AgilTech
is well positioned for long term growth.
AgilTech is seeking at least $2.5 million in equity funding in order to
increase sales coverage, expand marketing programs, and accelerate product
development. AgilTech's business plan is designed to generate rapid revenue
growth, from just under $2 million this fiscal year to over $60 million within
five years. The company will reach breakeven in the next fiscal year through
expansion of sales coverage while rigidly controlling costs. AgilTech intends
to generate a liquidity event for its investors within three to five years.
