CHICAGO, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroPulse Inc., a medical device
company based in Portage, Mich., has pioneered a technology that dramatically
reduces the cost and incidence of pressure ulcers. Based on a patented
patient support surface designed to maximize blood flow and prevent tissue
damage, the MicroPulse patient support system has been evaluated in clinical
studies involving hundreds of patients. Results to date demonstrate more than
a 90 percent decrease in pressure ulcer incidence when the MicroPulse system
was used. The MicroPulse patient support system is the first product
clinically shown to increase tissue blood-flow and to cost-effectively prevent
pressure ulcers in surgical and other at-risk patients. In addition, because
the Company's products do not require intensive service like existing
technologies, MicroPulse can provide its products at both significantly higher
margins and lower prices than current competitors.
MicroPulse's products are based on a technology developed by DuPont and a
leading university. The Company was founded in 1993 to commercialize this
technology, and it has raised approximately $6 million to date. The Company
is currently seeking approximately $5 million in additional working capital to
continue its sales and marketing efforts and to develop new products.
