SAN DIEGO, DEMOfall '06, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- flurry, a leading
innovator of consumer mobile services, today introduced a new version of
its mobile email and RSS service. As both a Java technology-based,
downloadable application and a Web-based service, flurry's unique solution
allows users to easily setup and link their email accounts from their PC,
and read and compose messages from their mobile phone. This week at
DEMOfall, flurry will introduce its newest capabilities, which include a
better integration of RSS subscriptions and integration with popular
services like Goowy and NewsIsFree.
Targeted for the vast majority of consumers who use standard,
consumer-grade mobile phones (other than Treo or BlackBerry PDAs), flurry
now supports over 200 different mobile phone models worldwide and supports
over 4500 email providers. As a "direct-to-consumer" solution, flurry can
virtually follow consumers as they move from phone to phone or carrier to
carrier.
"The large installed base of entry-level mobile phones was, until now,
an untapped market opportunity. flurry offers a compelling and easy to use
service that transforms a standard phone into becoming a remarkably usable
personal data device," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of DEMOfall.
"flurry has done an outstanding job of balancing what users do on their PC
and mobile phone to create a simple-to-use service like no other today."
flurry users can easily manage and control their preferences, email
accounts, RSS subscriptions and more from a PC by logging into the flurry
Website, then consume and interact with their personal data on their mobile
phone. And because the user interacts with an application on the phone,
it's fast and much easier to use than any WAP-based interface. If the user
switches carriers or switches phones, they can just update their settings
on the web site and update their phone to get going again.
New features include the ability to separate RSS subscriptions from
their inbox; sending pictures from many camera phones; and integration of
popular new services such as goowy mail and RSS feeds through NewsIsFree.
flurry is free to consumers, with the company announcing that both
advertising and premium services to be offered at a future date.
"Our goal is to bring easy to use mobile messaging solutions to
everyone," said Sean Byrnes, chief executive officer of flurry, inc. "We
believe that giving users powerful tools to personalize their experience
and enabling them to take their information with them wherever they go will
generate great opportunities to connect with them in relevant ways down the
road."
User can further personalize the service by subscribing to just about
any blog or RSS-based news feed. They can now better organize their content
when viewing it on the phone, as well as subscribe to thousands of feeds
organized by NewsIsFree, an online news reader.
