SAN DIEGO, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Scrapblog, the first online
multimedia scrapbook service, showcased its web-based application for the
first time today at the DEMOfall '06 Conference and announced that it will
go into public beta this calendar quarter. Scrapblog enables anyone to
create online interactive scrapbooks with the ability to add narration,
music, video, captions and comments at http://www.scrapblog.com.
Scrapblog is much more than an online photo album or picture sharing
site; it's online story telling. Through a simple-to-use multimedia tool
called the Scrapblog Builder, people can create a new kind of audio/video
presentation around their personal photographs. These interactive shows can
be shared with friends, who can also add their own comments and subscribe
to friends' scrapblogs to keep up with what's happening in their lives.
As Carlos Garcia, CEO and co-founder of Scrapblog, said at DEMO,
"Scrapblog is a versatile tool that empowers everyday people to express
themselves online." He adds, "Scrapblog enables the masses of non-technical
people to mix-in photos, videos, audio and a bunch of creative elements in
an environment that is really drag-and-drop-easy."
Visitors to Scrapblog.com get a wide variety of tools. They can upload
their photographs from their own computer or from other sites such as
Flickr and Webshots. Photos can be moved, resized and shaped, and users can
add special effects such as frames, borders, shadows, reflections and
transparencies. They can personalize them with stickers, balloon captions,
and paragraphs of text. To make their scrapblog even more interactive, they
can even add video and audio clips, again from their own computer or from
sites such as YouTube.
According to Chris Shipley, DEMO executive producer, who selected
Scrapblog to be among the presenting companies at the premier annual event,
"This is more than photo-sharing. It's user-generated content at its best."
With Scrapblog, there is no software to download. All the tools are run
from the company's site, where people can also store and share their
scrapblogs, either privately to friends or publicly for the world to see.
Their personal scrapblogs are displayed under their own URLs on Scrapblog's
servers, and can be posted to their Blogger, Typepad or Wordpress blogs.
Friends and family can subscribe to updates via RSS or email notifications.
Best of all, it's free! People can also order printed photobooks and
DVDs of their scrapblogs.
