DALLAS, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- For the third successive
year, Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE: KMB) has been named the personal
products industry sustainability leader, as measured by the 2008 Dow Jones
Sustainability World Index (DJSI World).
The DJSI World rankings are based on long-term economic, environmental
and social performance of leading global companies across 58 industries.
This year, Kimberly-Clark was ranked No. 1 among a global peer group of 14
personal products companies.
"From helping generations of families improve the quality of their
lives, to ensuring the safety and health of our employees and being
responsible stewards of the environment, we have advanced sustainability
through all levels of Kimberly-Clark, striving to make it part of all that
we do," said Thomas J. Falk, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We will
continue to build on our commitment to sustainable growth, which is
integral to K-C's long-term business success."
Kimberly-Clark earned the highest scores in its peer group in a number
of areas, including achieving 100 percent ratings in the areas of
environmental performance and product information. Other areas in which K-C
was rated the highest in the personal products category included: risk and
crisis management; strategy for emerging markets; customer relationship
management; product impact; labor practice indicators; standards for
suppliers; and corporate citizenship/philanthropy.
Only the top 10 percent of the world's largest 2,500 companies qualify
for this prestigious list, with companies selected according to a
systematic sustainability assessment that identifies the sustainability
leaders in each industry group.
